SENIOR CIVIL STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (CONTRACT)

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a contractor-based position, the individual assigned to this role will be accountable for ensuring civil/structural designs are in compliance with all applicable industry and vendor codes and standards. Civil/Structural Engineers will work on one or multiple assigned projects and support the project team through execution. More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Developing the Civil and Structural design for a project or proposal.
- Providing comprehensive design services by establishing design criteria and preparing of specifications, design computations, drawings, models and bills of material in accordance with basic project requirements.
- Participating in the design of component parts and individual units, exercising cost control, reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications.
- Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements.
- Reviewing and maintaining project schedules, engineering tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management.
- Providing technical guidance to junior staff.
- Participating in design reviews.
- Preparing or assisting in the preparation of discipline inputs for cost estimates for proposals.
- Applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses to solving engineering tasks.
- Being able to meet safety requirements to attend site visits.
- Prepare and review loading and load combinations based on the applicable codes and standards.
- Experience with relevant 3D model viewing software such as Navisworks.
- Strong working knowledge of structural engineering, including steel structure design, concrete structure design, steel buildings, piling and foundation design and related element design.
- Experience with and understanding of Civil design including tank containment, drainage system, site grading and related element design.
- Experience in foundation dynamic analysis of vibrating equipment.
- Review, check and analyse the content of internal and external documents.
- Compile reports, specifications, requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
- Identify technical, financial or schedule risks.
- Provide technical support to the project group including procurement, sub contactor, fabrication and construction activities.
- Engineering authentication of documentation.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Engineering or technical school graduate with 10+ civil/structural engineering experience coupled with a Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) from a Canadian professional engineering organization (e.g. EGBC, APEGA, etc.).
- Experience with:
- Common structural finite-element analysis software programs (Advance Design, S-Frame, SAP2000, RISA, etc.).
- 3D Model viewing software.
- Microsoft Excel.
- Dyna 6
Preference will be given to individuals with:
- Experience working in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience working directly with fabrication and construction teams, providing civil-structural engineering support.
- Strong familiarity with Graitec Advance Design and Advance Design Connection software.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel for use and creation of structural engineering analysis tools.
